FIL Committee Roles

Ever wondered what a role on the FIL Committee entails?  Well here's a brief summary..

CHAIR

  • Chairs meetings and coordinates between meetings
  • Spokesperson and final decision maker in all matters
  • Ultimate authority and responsibility for all governance and oversight
  • Normally signatory of the FIL bank account

VICE CHAIR

  • As above, deputising as required by the Chair where they are unavailable
  • Often succeeds as the Chair (this isn't automatic, it's a tendency)
  • Sounding board for Chair on matters they need a second opinion

TREASURER

  • Coordinates everything to do with money, invoicing, bills etc and liaises with the appointed scrutinisers of the accounts
  • Normally signatory of the FIL bank account
  • Coordinates with Membership Secretary on invoicing any event payments

SECRETARY

  • Books meeting dates and venues
  • Compiles agendas in discussion with the Chair and Committee
  • Writes minutes
  • Can be signatory of the FIL bank account

WEB OFFICER

  • All matters to do with updating the website, adding content, and liaison with the website hosts

MARKETING OFFICER

  • Produces flyers and advocacy materials, often in collaboration with the Chair and Web Officer

MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

  • Communications with the Membership
  • Dealing with Membership event booking
  • Often in coordination with Marketing Officer and Web Officer
  • Coordinates with Treasurer for invoicing purposes

NEWSLETTER EDITOR

  • Collates, page sets and produces FIL Newsletter
  • Liaises with production support
